Near Neighbours

Near Neighbours brings people together in communities that are ethnically diverse, so that they can get to know each other better, build relationships of trust, and collaborate together on initiatives that improve the local community they live in.

Near Neighbours supports communities to come together, talk openly and productively about challenging local issues, and empower people to make a difference in their neighbourhoods.

Near Neighbours’ objectives are:

• Social Interaction: to develop positive relationships to help people from different faiths get to know and understand each other better.
• Social Action: to encourage people of different walks for life to come together for initiatives that improve their local neighbourhood.

We work with and support local faith and community partners through seed funding, advice and guidance. Supporting local forums and events, and through our citywide leaders network programme.

Near Neighbours is a national initiative with hubs around the country, Thrive Together Birmingham coordinate the Birmingham Near Neighbours activity through our Near Neighbours Coordinator.
