Near Neighbours Coordinator Meets the Prime Minister

Recently Sir Keir Starmer PM, visited faith and community leaders from Birmingham to show his commitment to tackling racism, anti-immigrant and anti-Muslim hate that had resulted in recent far right riots.

Our Near Neighbours Development Worker Rabiyah K Latif, was invited by the WM Mayors office to attend this meeting, to share the impact these events had on our communities.

She was able to highlight the importance of cohesion led initiatives that foster stronger understanding and relationships between all communities.

Cadent Gas Centres for Warmth Celebrate

To celebrate our partnership with Cadent Gas, and to promote Gas Safety Week, our Cadent Centres for Warmth created an art exhibition which was launched at St Martin in the Bullring.

With the support of Art Therapies UK, participants created buildings which represent warmth and connection to them. The art was made at the individual Centres for Warmth and was then pulled together to create the wonderful and vibrant installation which was on display throughout Gas Safety week.

Toys4Bham 2024 Launched at Virgin Media O2

This Christmas Thrive is again one of the partners leading the Toys4Birmingham campaign

Christmas 2024 will be the fourth year Thrive has been involved along with Birmingham PlayCare Network, Birmingham Mail and Warwickshire Cricket Foundation in the Toys4Birmingham appeal. Last year we gave away over 15,000 brand new toys donated by citizens, faith groups and business in Birmingham to vulnerable children in the city.

Each year the donated toys and gifts are gathered and shared with children’s centres, schools, support organisations and local charities, all of whom work with the most vulnerable families in Birmingham. These are then gifted directly to the families.

This year’s appeal was launched with the help of staff at Virgin Media O2 who worked as a team providing gifts to kick start Toys4Birmingham 2024.

Could you, your organisation or faith group contribute?
